Unleashed now to the world at large - Plotbot!Beta!

Plotbot is a webapp developed by me and my good friend Brad for collaborative screenwriting. We've got an AJAXalicious interface that allows for commenting, ease of editing, versioning, and screenplay formatting, all housed in a context that we hope will facilitate good, meaningful collaboration.

We've built Plotbot with wiki principles in mind, so every change or addition to a screenplay can be easily restored to an earlier version, even if deleted. As the owner of a screenplay, you can determine what permissions others have, and lock down scenes to prevent further edits. And everything you type in Plotbot is easily downloadable in Rich Text Format (allowing for reimportation into Final Draft, for example) or XML, if anyone wants to get geeky with it. And, of course, any project can be Creative Commons-ed up for maximum remixing goodness, if the project creator so chooses.

We're generally interested in seeing what sort of awesomeness we can write with a large group of people (to that end, be sure to check out and contribute a line or two to our Taste-Test Zombies screenplay, or our Getting Things Done in Prison screenplay), but we also wanted to build something useful for writing our own projects. We're hoping you'll find it useful, too.

See for yourself - sign up with the invite code splitlevel at Plotbot now. If you've already signed up in our early beta testing, maybe you'd like to invite some friends?
